From September 8 to 11, 2025, the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, in southern China. As one of the most influential national-level exhibitions in the world dedicated exclusively to two-way investment promotion, CIFIT - organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce - provided a prominent platform for fostering global economic cooperation and strengthening investment relations.

This year’s CIFIT spanned approximately 120,000 square meters and featured over 100 professional programs focused on investment. It attracted participants from more than 120 countries and regions, with over 50 of them represented by dedicated national pavilions. The fair’s three key themes - “Invest in China,” “China Investment,” and “International Investment”- reflected the evolving directions of global economic collaboration. The organizers announced signed or planned agreements covering 1,154 projects, with a total value of 644 billion yuan (approximately 90.7 billion USD).

Hungary’s presence was coordinated by HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency, which was responsible for designing the unified visual identity of the national pavilion and organizing the professional programs.

The Hungarian pavilion was officially opened by Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary for External Economic Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and CEO of HEPA. The Hungarian delegation also included Dr. Gábor Péter Artner, Deputy CEO of HEPA. On the Chinese side, the event was honored by the presence of Jiang Erxiong, Vice Governor of Fujian Province; Zhuang Rongliang, Vice Mayor of Xiamen City and Han Xiaodong, representing the Ministry of Commerce.

The national pavilion featured several distinct areas: a private VIP meeting room, a central information desk, a cozy wine bar, an impressive presentation space and an exhibitor zone showcasing Hungarian companies’ products, services, and innovations. Visitors were offered a rich cultural experience, with daily folk dance performances and wine tastings on the main stage.

The Hungarian stand attracted significant attention, with strong interest in the cultural programs. Hungarian exhibitors engaged in meaningful discussions with numerous potential partners and had the opportunity to meet with leaders from several districts of Xiamen.

Hungary’s successful participation once again demonstrated the growing strength of Hungarian economic diplomacy in the Chinese market.
