Protecting digital infrastructure and strengthening international technological cooperation were at the heart of the 1st Swedish-Hungarian Cybersecurity Forum, held in Stockholm on 7 October 2026. Hosted at the Embassy of Hungary in Stockholm, the event offered new business opportunities for cybersecurity companies from both countries.
The idea for the forum emerged at Stockholm Tech Show in May 2026, the Hungarian Embassy in Stockholm’s largest business event of the past decade. During professional discussions at the event, participants identified the need for a business meeting dedicated exclusively to cybersecurity.
The forum was organised jointly by the Embassy of Hungary in Stockholm, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and the Hungarian Cybersecurity Cluster. The event brought together 15 representatives from ten Hungarian companies and two organisations, alongside 22 Swedish representatives from nine companies, two organisations and two ministries.
The forum was held in connection with Cybersecurity Week and the ONE Cyber conference in The Hague, as well as the TruSec Cybersecurity Summit 2026 in Stockholm.
Shared challenges and leading technology players
The event was opened by Dr. Péter Palóczi, Hungary’s Ambassador to Sweden, who highlighted the achievements of Swedish-Hungarian cooperation in technology and defence. He emphasised Hungary’s strengths in research and development and business services, as well as the opportunities presented by establishing new development and competence centres.
The conference programme featured representatives from two leading Swedish technology companies, Saab and Ericsson, who shared their expertise and experience.
Jenny Gardner, Strategy Director at Saab, presented the company’s activities and the cyber defence challenges it faces. Saab’s high-level delegation was led by Stefan Fredriksson, Director of the Aeronautics business area, and also included Nils-Erik Svangårds, Director of the company’s aeronautics development centre in Budapest.
Representing Ericsson, Mikko Karikytö, Vice President of Product Security, delivered a presentation on telecommunications network security. The discussions also focused on protecting Europe’s digital infrastructure, technological sovereignty and reducing dependence on suppliers.
Networking and new business opportunities
Following the presentations, Márton Miklós, President of the Hungarian Cybersecurity Cluster, introduced the organisation’s activities, after which Hungarian companies showcased their expertise and solutions.
The programme concluded with informal B2B meetings, providing opportunities to lay the groundwork for new technological partnerships and joint projects. Zsolt Horváth, representing HEPA/EEN, also played a key role in coordinating the Hungarian delegation’s participation.
According to feedback from participants, the inaugural forum was a great success, confirming strong interest in further professional cooperation. By laying the foundations for a new tradition, the event marked an important step towards increasing the international visibility of Hungarian cybersecurity companies and strengthening Swedish-Hungarian business relations.
