On 17 July 2025, the Hungary-Uzbekistan Business Roundtable took place in Budapest, following the plenary session of the Joint Economic Committee, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA).
The high-level Uzbek delegation was led by Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, accompanied by deputy ministers in transport, agriculture, education, science and innovation.
The Hungarian delegation included Boglárka Illés, State Secretary for Bilateral Relations Development, Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary for External Economic Affairs, Gábor Jenei, CEO of HEPA, and Dr. Gábor Péter Artner, Deputy CEO of HEPA.
Hungary-Uzbekistan economic and diplomatic relations have seen dynamic growth recently. This third business roundtable of the year marked another milestone in deepening bilateral cooperation.
Nine Hungarian companies and two organizations participated, focusing on long-term strategic areas such as energy collaboration and agriculture, especially drought-resistant products and technologies. The circular economy also emerged as a priority, opening new markets and tech opportunities beyond sustainability.
Uzbekistan showed strong interest in Hungarian technologies and expertise. The Angren Industrial Park, soon to undergo infrastructure development, offers significant potential for Hungarian businesses. Minister Kudratov expressed great openness after hearing the Hungarian presentations. He pledged support for market entry, partner identification, project initiation and production capacity development. He also promised to initiate Uzbek governmental working groups in strategically important areas.
Both sides showed strong intent to strengthen bilateral economic ties, and this event is expected to contribute significantly to future joint projects.
Hungarian participants proposed simplifying market authorization and registration procedures, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and identifying recommended Uzbek partners, especially distributors. They also expressed the need for up-to-date information on ongoing and planned development projects.
