Smarter, Greener, Global: HEPA’s New Tools for Export-Driven SMEs

The European Commission has officially approved the funding of the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency’s sustainability project titled “Reinforcing SMEs’ competitiveness and green transition in export activities.”


The project is implemented jointly by HEPA and SPIRIT Slovenia under the EU’s Technical Support Instrument (TSI), with a total budget of €550,000 split evenly between the two organizations. Beneficiaries will receive advisory services, with the service provider selection process to be announced soon. The implementation is scheduled for one year starting from summer 2025.


The HEPA initiative is one of 135 TSI-supported projects across EU member states aimed at boosting economic competitiveness.


HEPA will enhance services in three key areas:


•    Supporting SMEs to integrate environmental sustainability into export development
•    Developing AI-powered IT tools to help SMEs reduce greenhouse gas emissions and access green financing opportunities
•    Improving international visibility of SMEs through guides and training on strategic and operational sustainability
