As of March 17, 2025, Dr. Gábor Péter Artner holds the position of Deputy CEO at HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency.


Dr. Artner graduated from the Faculty of Law at Eötvös Loránd University, specializing in international law. His passion for international law flourished during his participation in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, where the ELTE team ranked among the world’s best, outperforming renowned universities.


He continued his professional career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, where, as Deputy Head of the Trade Policy Department, he played a key role in strengthening Hungary’s international economic relations. As lead negotiator, he represented Hungary in the field of investment protection across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, contributing to the safeguarding of Hungarian companies' foreign investments. His accomplishments include the successful conclusion of bilateral investment protection agreements with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Georgia. Additionally, he represented Hungary in major international organizations, including the European Union, OECD, WTO, and UNCITRAL, taking an active role in global economic diplomacy.


During Hungary’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, he demonstrated outstanding leadership by chairing the Trade Policy Committee’s Investment Working Party. He launched a comprehensive reform initiative to modernize the EU’s investment protection policy. Through his leadership, after 14 years, a breakthrough was achieved as the Council adopted official conclusions on the future of EU investment protection, injecting new momentum into a policy field that had long been stagnant.


At HEPA, his goal is to leverage his international experience and diplomatic successes to elevate the global presence of Hungarian exporters, contributing to Hungary’s enhanced competitiveness in the global market. He is committed to opening new markets for domestic companies and strengthening Hungary’s economic weight in international trade in the long term.
