A successful Regional Water Forum was held in Brussels on 5th March 2025, focusing on investments in water management, sustainable agriculture and drought prevention. The event was organized by the Drought Prevention Institute with the support of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of OTS stressed that water shortage is an ever-increasing problem for the OTS region, which can be addressed through effective regional cooperation. Active cooperation through the Drought Prevention Institute provides an excellent opportunity to address water management, irrigation, prevention and other environmental challenges.

According to Gábor Jenei, CEO of the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency, the challenges caused by water shortage can be effectively addressed with the help of the Hungarian water expertise, as Hungary's advanced drought monitoring system (MARS) provides real-time data for decision-making, agricultural planning and ecosystem protection, thus contributing to increasing water security and to promote sustainable agriculture in the Turkic states as well.

During the event, several panel discussions were held, during which international organizations and funding institutions discussed the current financing and professional situation of the water sector.
