As part of the Hungarian Heritage Month series of events over the month of October, Hungarian companies and products were showcased to Canadian attendees at the HungaroFest gastro-cultural event.

Hosted on 15 October, HungaroFest was attended by Péter Kiss-Parciu, Deputy State Secretary and Head of Department for Cross-border Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Dr. Kristóf Szabó CEO of the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency.

Apart from attending the HungaroFest event, the goal of the delegation consisting of technical management and the representatives of Hungarian companies was to promote Hungarian products, map out new business opportunities and strengthen the business ties between the two countries. Concluded five years ago, the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) greatly simplifies the export of goods and services between the two continents.

Prior to the event, a delegation attended an online meeting on 14 October to showcase Hungarian medical technical solutions, including six companies that presented their goods. The delegation then met the representatives of the Canadian firms Con-nois-seur, Heirloom Imports, TifaWine, Grande Cheese, Longos, Mézes Mackó, Nature’s Emporium and other Canadian food industry importer-distributor companies at a food industry-oriented B2B networking event. Amongst other companies, the representatives of Hódi Paprika, Primus mineral water, RoyalPaté and the Vilhemp company producing compostable cutlery presented their portfolios at the business meeting combined with a product demonstration.

The Consulate General of Hungary in Toronto and the HEPA regional partner office in Canada helped the delegation organize the professional and business meetings. The delegation was hosted by the Deputy Head of Mission at the Consulate General of Hungary in Toronto Máté Árpád Igaz and Sándor Balla, President of the Hungarian Canadian Business Association, CEO of the HEPA Canada office.
