18 August 2022 marked the celebratory launch of Magnus Aircraft’s self-developed Fusion 212 airplane, which has since performed an intercontinental ferry flight. Plane no. HA-XAE took off from the Pécs-Pogány Airport and traveled through Europe and across the Atlantic Ocean before reaching the American continent.

During its journey, it passed through the following countries: Hungary – Austria – Germany – Belgium – England – Faroe Islands (Denmark) – Iceland – Greenland (Denmark) – Canada – USA

The sensation of the outstanding performance of the company’s first transatlantic ferry flight of a uniquely designed, ultra-light, single engine aircraft with a maximum take-off mass of 600 kg highlighted the potential of Hungarian resourcefulness. The event has helped spread the good reputation of yet another Hungarian export product, as well as that of HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency, beyond the European continent.

The mission’s first, exclusive “Flight Ceremony” event was attended by top domestic and international partners, members of the press as well as the employees responsible for preparing the flight alongside a number of representatives of the HEPA.

In his ceremonial speech, László Boros, CEO of Magnus Aircraft expressed his gratitude to all the companies and organizations involved in the project, in particular, the cooperation of the HEPA that allowed for making the first Hungarian undertaking of this nature a reality. The ceremony included a presentation of the preparations for the journey, during which the pilot flew a total of 8786 kilometres and visitors also had a chance to take a first-hand look at the plane. Subsequent to the ceremony, the Magnus Fusion 212 embarked on its ferry flight.

The company selected its pilot from a long list of experienced candidates, someone who has the suitable hours of total flight time and who also has experience flying over the Atlantic Ocean. It took three months to organize the project.
