The China Information Day organized by HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency on 1 December 2025 ended with remarkable success, offering Hungarian enterprises a clear and up to date picture of China’s fast evolving market, business culture, and export opportunities.

The event featured high level diplomatic participation, including His Excellency Gong Tao, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Hungary and Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary for External Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and CEO of HEPA. Interest in the Chinese market was further demonstrated by the presence of 54 Hungarian companies, all eager to explore new business avenues.

In her welcome remarks, Katalin Bihari emphasized the growing importance of China in Hungary’s foreign trade. In 2024, China ranked as Hungary’s 9th most significant trading partner, with bilateral trade nearing USD 12.5 billion, which is a 26% increase compared to the previous year.

She also underscored the achievements of HEPA’s Regional Partner Office in China, which since 2018 has supported more than 300 Hungarian companies, facilitated 120 business negotiations, and contributed to numerous successful export deals. Hungarian beef and wine exports have reached several million dollars in recent years, complemented by notable successes in the ICT and logistics sectors.

HEPA continues to ensure a strong Hungarian presence at key Chinese trade fairs such as China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing and China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen.

Looking ahead, one of the most anticipated events is the Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou in 2026, where Hungary will participate as Guest Country of Honor, presenting its latest innovations and cutting edge technologies.

The program’s professional depth was further enhanced by an online presentation from Katalin Sógor, Foreign Trade Attaché in Beijing. She outlined emerging Chinese market trends and innovation driven sectors such as electronics, battery technologies, renewable energy and robotics.

Additionally, Mengyi Li, Operations Manager of HEPA’s Regional Partner Office in China, provided valuable insights into Chinese business culture and the rapidly expanding world of online sales channels.

Following the presentations, participants engaged in networking sessions and targeted business meetings, creating promising opportunities for future collaboration and market entry.
